Issue 10 is here! Here's what you'll find inside...

Interviews:

  • Many of our horses struggle or dislike being trimmed and the reason why isn't always obvious. Edyta Jackson, an ISNHCP instructor and practitioner and owner of Equiliberta, exposes the horsemanship secrets she's discovered after her own shire boys struggled with hoof handling issues and behaviours. Now a great passion of Edyta's, she helps horses and their owners overcome the fear or frustration formed around being trimmed, expressing the importance of a relationship built on mutual trust and a thorough understanding.

Guest Articles:

  • Sue Dawson of Calm Healthy Horses UK, author behind our ‘Making Mini Tracks Rock’ ongoing series, shares what she feeds her horses as a nutritionist specialising in track-kept horses and why.
  • Minna Sarkkinen of Hoof School details what inflammation looks like in our horses' hooves in part one of a three part series, exposing the truth behind why Thoroughbreds are often branded with poor hoof health and an inability to go barefoot successfully.
  • Sian Constantine of Hoof and Habitat is back to show there's a better way to deal with flies and other pests, exploring how we can support our horses whilst also supporting the balance of the food web and the natural behaviours of the insects and organisms.
  • Regular writer Alyson Sharpe of PB Paddock Paradise Livery shares how time away from her horse did not shake their relationship in a moment of chaos, attributing their solid relationship to life on track and all that accompanies it. Buster is this issue's cover star!
  • Jordan Wood of Hope For Horses Behaviour and Training, an equine behaviourist and positive reinforcement coach, explores how and why track systems can help horses with pre-existing pain or behaviour issues.
  • Laura Hobbs of Switch Equine explores why some horses still don't thrive, even when the 3 F's - forage, friends, freedom - are in place.
